Inspired by a passion for education & a love of children, YGC has a strong sense of community and wants to partner with our local families to help kids to grow and learn.
YGC promotes a fun-filled, nurturing and educational environment for all of our children to bloom into responsible, considerate and contributing young people. Through our low teacher-child ratios and highly exceptional teachers, the children have the opportunity to grow emotionally, socially and intellectually by interacting, exploring and learning with others in a positive, safe and healthy environment. As a family owned and operated organization, Christy Vickrey welcomes positive family involvement. We respect our parents as the primary providers of love, care and education to their children, but we encourage a parent-teacher approach where the needs of every child comes first in order to experience the benefits of excellent early childhood education and school-age programs. YGC supports families by creating a quality childcare program led by inspiring and loving teachers who nurture children as they learn, play and grow. Classes are available for children as young as eight weeks through age 5. We also offer before and after school care for school-age children as well as Summer Camp. Classrooms & Curriculum
Our Infant, Preschool & Kindergarten Readiness Programs are fun filled and developed around an innovative curriculum, Zoo Phonics. YGC uses Zoo Phonics to create classroom activities that meet the developmental needs of young children.
The Zoo-Phonics curriculum program is integrated into our everyday classroom instruction. Through this program the children are provided with a kinesthetic method for learning phonics, reading, and spelling through the use of vocabulary rich literature. Now, over 6,000 schools nationwide in the U.S. are using Zoo-Phonics and in 2001 Zoo-Phonics was chosen as the #1 program in efficiency of learning, fullness of curriculum and cost effectiveness. Zoo-Phonics provides a well-balanced curriculum and methodology spanning the entire language arts spectrum. Through the use of body movements and fun-filled activities the children are able to acquire a deeper understanding of the sounds of the alphabet. The best advocates of the program are the children themselves, who learn to read quickly and easily with the help of their Zoo-Phonics animal friends.
Sign Language is an additional component taught in each of our classrooms beginning in our infant room and in each age group through Pre-K. Through the use of sign language children often experience less frustration and more sense of accomplishment. Communication is a key factor for all of our young learners, so by incorporating sign language we are able to teach our youngest of children basic communications skills in order for them to be successful.Read More
